Nicholas Schmidt
Founder & Master Carpenter
My name is Nicholas Schmidt, founder and master carpenter at Schmidty Woodworks. I grew up outside Boston, getting my start on residential job sites alongside my uncle and learning the trade from the ground up. I later trained at the North Bennet Street School, where I refined that foundation into skilled craftsmanship.
Today, Schmidty Woodworks is a small, close-knit team backed by trusted partners, allowing us to take on projects of all sizes while keeping a personal, hands-on approach.
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, music, and spending time with my family and two dogs — who tend to come with me wherever I go. That same sense of care, connection, and attention to detail is what we bring into every project we take on.
About Schmidty Wood Works
At Schmidty Wood Works we believe a great business is about more than the work — it's about the people and the community surrounding it. Outside of the shop you'll find us at local shows, markets, and events soaking in everything our community has to offer. Music, culture, art, and good people have always been a big part of who we are, and that energy finds its way into everything we build and every relationship we make along the way.
We're not just here to build your cabinets and move on. We're here to be a part of something bigger — a network of people who support each other, share experiences, and show up for one another. That's the kind of business we're building alongside the furniture.
Who We Are
We're not a big box contractor. We're your neighbor, your friend, the guy who actually answers the phone and shows up when he says he will. I've always been someone who values people and communication as much as the craft itself, and that runs through everything we do here. When you work with us you get a team that's qualified, capable, and genuinely invested in making sure you love what we build together.
